bleeding buttons by a bored boy

From the Devil's Workshop: Boring Buttons

You know, today started off as a "productive" day for me. I woke up at 9.40am, which is extremely early by my slothful standards. Yeah, waking up that early kind of categorised me as a "productive" person, so heck, it was meant to be a productive day. But...

...I found out that my early morning interview had been postponed to Monday morn, so I ended up getting stuck here in front of my PC.

That saying about "an idle mind is the Devil's workshop". It's true you know. With my mind idle, I decided to let Old Nick (aka the Devil) turn Nick's mind into his workshop. Thus, an idle idiot has been turned into a productive individual by his idol. Erm, what am I saying here?

I don't really know. My mind's exhausted itself at the hands of Old Nick.

Besides, I'm at the tail end of my delirium-inducing fever, and a throat infection seems to have caught my neck in a vice-grip. Sigh. So much for staying home while Lyn works. The following photos might help you picture (pun intended?) the loneliness I'm suffering from as she works in a Nike store in a shopping complex that's quite near where I live:

alone watching the sun, alone like the sun,
watching beautiful birds(=gals) fly by!

"Here I stand, watching the tide go out,
So all alone and blue, just dreaming dreams of you."

Ah, couldn't be the least bothered. Huh? What's that about?

Anyhoo, this Devil-damned delirious mind decided to embark on a disastrous dallying with the Art of button making because it's body & soul had nothing else to do. The fruits of this satanic labour can be seen right below you, in the Hell below:

The Buttons Themselves

The Devil Hopes...

...you enjoyed those devilishly drab buttons. Dabbling in this Art requires an artistic mind Old Nick doesn't have. So, do excuse him while he stares at the following picture...

...that holds Heaven, Hell and Earth in one frame. A picture that never fails to induce more than a murmur of hope. A picture that says behind the brightest sky is the darkest Hell (or is it the other way round?). A picture that...

...[enough of this crap already! Enjoy the buttons and pics, peeps!]

Theme Song

In Love In Vain
(Leo Robin & Jerome Kern)

[click on the "play" button to hear
a low-res version of this song
by Dick Haymes & Helen Forrest. best played with mp3PRO decoder]

Love can be a blessing,
But also most depressing,
And I don't mind confessing
That I feel mighty Blue!

It's only human for anyone
To want to be in love
But who wants to be
In love in vain?

At night you hang around the house
And eat your heart out
And cry your eyes out
And wrack your brain.

You sit and wonder
Why anyone as wonderful as she
Should cause you such misery & pain
I thought that I would be in Heaven,

But I'm only up a tree
Cause it's just my luck to be
In love in vain!

LOVE, n.
1. A temporary insanity curable by marriage or by removal of the patient from the influences under which he incurred the disorder. This disease, like caries and many other ailments, is prevalent only among civilized races living under artificial conditions; barbarous nations breathing pure air and eating simple food enjoy immunity from its ravages. It is sometimes fatal, but more frequently to the physician than to the patient.
- Ambrose Bierce

2. A man's insane desire to become a woman's meal-ticket.
- Gideon Wurdz
