must mondays madden me?

I just watched the sweetest thing on TV! I still haven't had my dinner yet (still waiting, something seems to be holding up my mom who's slaving away in the kitchen while I sit in front of my comp). Um, back to "That 70s Show". It was just so awfully sweet the way Donna decided to not go to college (yet) and stick around with Eric to be in love together. I must be getting sappy and soft to fall for such cheap romance all of a sudden, but heck, I am in love! So in love with you my love...

To reflect my current pensive-in-love mood, I offer a selection of songs from Matt Monro. Lyrics only. For starters, we have fresh new love...

When Love Comes Along
Now that you're here with me,
Old winter's come and gone,
And now every single tree,
Has leaves and flowers on.

There isn't anything,
As wonderful as Spring,
When love comes along.

Love gives me all of you,
And fills my heart with song,
If you feel that way too,
Then nothing can go wrong.

We've got each other,
And the world's a wonderland,
When love comes along.

Love joins your heart to mine,
We're one from this day on,
Love has us lost in time,
Amid the passing throng.

Fools say it can't be done,
But two become as one,
When love comes along.

For the main course, a song with a vein of advice that applies not only to love but life in general. It also quite explains why we as humans take a tumble in the hay... small pleasures what!

Look For Small Pleasures
Look for small pleasures,
That happen every day,
And not for fortune or fame.

Infinite treasures,
Lie all along the way,
As do candles
waiting for the flame.

How simple the joys,
At our fingertips,
This plain air we share,
Is champagne one sips.

Look for small pleasures,
Upon this ball of clay,
And not for lightning to tame.

And one day there’s someone,
Just a friendly someone,
Who’ll be husband or wife to you,
Be the love of all your life to you;

And you’ll find how great,
Small pleasures can prove.

But most good things must come to an end, as does love sometimes. So here is how I shall delude myself if ever I have to get along without *her*, although knowing deep inside I will never forget *her*...

I Get Along Without You Very Well
(written by Hoagy Carmichael)

I get along without you very well,
Of course I do...
Except when soft rains fall,
And drip from leaves--then I recall,
The thrill of being sheltered in your arms!
Of course I do...

But I get along without you very well,
I've forgotten you just like I should,
Of course I have...
Except to hear your name,
Or someone's laugh--that is the same,
But I've forgotten you just like I should!

What a guy!
What a fool am I!
To think my breaking heart could kid the moon,
What's in store?
Should I phone once more?
No, it's best that I stick to my tune!

I get along without you very well,
Of course I do...
Except perhaps in Spring,
But I should never think of Spring,
For that would surely break my heart in two!
But I get along without you very well...

That wraps up my selection from Matt Monro's repertoire. You people must really listen to this guy! He doesn't rock; he swings.

My Murderous Monday
I hate Mondays. They are terrible. Always terrible. Most of the hours in a Monday, if not all. To think I had my Bio (Practical) Trials today and nobody told me at all until ½ an hour before the damned thing! And of all things YH had to piss me off that I sit with him to give him the answers. YH even had the temerity to become "angry" at me because I sat with Kanesh. I must state here that YH is just an acquaintance; I have known Kanesh since moral classes in First Form and his one of my better friends. Bloody boiling blood is what I have in me today!

Another maddening thing (again, inevitably linked to Bio Pract). I really cannot believe this! This person knew all about the Bio Pract and didn't tell me even though we were busy texting each other through the blasted morning. The audacity of some people! Making small talk while not telling me the shocking news of reality. Hey! It's the freaking Trials and what, you don't tell me? At least let me get my mind prepared for the Trials even though I haven't touched my textbooks yet (you see why the Trials are freaking me out?). If you happen to read this, although I think you know not my blog, just know that I'm quite cool with it and we're still good friends. Next time just tell me.

Everything seems to be linked to that out-of-nowhere Bio Pract. But this is a more embarrassing one. Pin came over to wish us all the best of luck, and as usual I was slowly chomping my stupid sandwich, rushing to get it down in 5  minutes to be in time for the Trials. I didn't know she was wishing me (until later, after the Trials) because there was this whole gathering of Kanesh and krew behind me and between Pin and my back. It was so terribly embarrassing-lah. I apologised after that when Pin alerted me to the fact (that she had been wishing me) by SMS after the Trials. So red-faced now. How to face Pin? Aiyoh.

After the Trials, I found out from Pin that YH has been going around saying that she likes him even though she does not. And that she is going out with YH even though she IS NOT. Am I past boiling point here? Well, of course! Not because of the direction in which my heart lies (how noble) but because it pisses Pin off. It would be selfish if I were to say that it's because of where my heart lies... After all Pin must have her selection. Wait till I get my hands on him. That is if and when I here those untruths coming out from YH's own mouth. Then he will know that his arse can talk too.

Must be off to dinner now! I'm so very hungry as it is. 9pm what!

Love can be a blessing,
But also most depressing,
And I don't mind confessing
That I feel mighty Blue!

It's only human for anyone
To want to be in love
But who wants to be
In love in vain?

At night you hang around the house
And eat your heart out
And cry your eyes out
And wrack your brain.

You sit and wonder
Why anyone as wonderful as she
Should cause you such misery & pain
I thought that I would be in Heaven,

But I'm only up a tree
Cause it's just my luck to be
In love in vain!

LOVE, n.
1. A temporary insanity curable by marriage or by removal of the patient from the influences under which he incurred the disorder. This disease, like caries and many other ailments, is prevalent only among civilized races living under artificial conditions; barbarous nations breathing pure air and eating simple food enjoy immunity from its ravages. It is sometimes fatal, but more frequently to the physician than to the patient.
- Ambrose Bierce

2. A man's insane desire to become a woman's meal-ticket.
- Gideon Wurdz
